                      Welcome to 4th Grade classroom:

                      Welcome the 4th grade!

Welcome to Room 18!  My name is Elizabeth Jackson.  I am a native of San Francisco.  I have been working in education for over twelve years in schools, media organizations, and non-profits.  I earned my teaching credential at San Francisco State University.

There are many exciting and challenging things we will be working on this year.  In addition to studying mathematics and language arts, we will be studying media literacy and digital citizenship by analyzing television programs, advertisements, and the Internet.  We also participated in making our own media through Filmmakers in the Classroom program with the San Francisco Film Society.  Room 18 will also be implementing lifeskills as well as participating in a few field trips.  We enjoyed a combined multi-day field trip with Room 17 to Vida Verde to learn about the outdoors.  You can find out more about the experiences a vveducation.org.

In order for us to be successful learners, there are some guidelines that will be expected to ensure that Room 18 is a safe learning environment for everyone.  When problems arise, we attempt to resolve the conflicts within the classroom setting.  When necessary, I involve the families in the process of helping students meet the expected classroom behaviors.  Together we can resolve concerns early and get students pointed in the right direction.  Our classroom guidelines are as followed:

                      Be Trustworthy

                      Be Truthful

                      Use Active Listening

                      No Put-Downs

                      Do Your Personal Best

I believe that each one of you play an extremely important part in our learning community.  I would like to extend an invitation for you to be a guest reader, teacher, or tutor in our classroom.

                      Sincerely,

                      Elizabeth Jackson
